This entry marks a change in my use of this journal. I have not been posting about the events in my life or my reactions to those events in quite some time; I no longer plan on doing so. Instead from now on I plan on posting my social/political/etc commentary.

There will be restaurant reviews. There will be posts about my stance on political and social issues. There will be plans outlined for how I feel issues and institutions should be run. All of these are open to interpretation, and none of them are meant to make anyone else's opinions feel marginalized or naive. If you, the reader of this journal, disagree with anything I say in this journal, please feel free to tell me - and please tell me why you disagree. All opinions expressed in the future of this journal are simply that - opinions. Not all of the "plans" expressed in this journal will be feasible, and many will likely be formed on incomplete information. Therefore, if you feel something said in this journal is false, incomplete, or misguided, please say something. This is not a place where ideas will be squashed or where opinions will be ridiculed; this will be a journal intended to promote an exchange of ideas, a journal allowing me to capture my current views of my world and how I feel that world should be run.

I am now getting on my soap box.

It is a dark and stormy night, about 1 in the morning. It's not a fun night to go out on the town, so instead you pull up your chair and log onto livejournal to find out what's going on in other places and with other people. You round a corner on livejournal and come across a new journal...this one. It sparks your interest, so you decide to check it out.

Okay, now that I've finished with the theatrics, onto the actual post:

As this is my first post on this journal, I think I'll take the time to outline what my intentions are with future posts. First of all, you'll notice that I tend to do a lot of lj-cuts for space reasons, and what is behind the lj-cut will be on the label. This keeps my posts from ruining your friends page, and it allows you to decide if you want to read it or not. Secondly, I try not to use too much vulgar language. Third, I tend to be sarcastic and comment on my own writing instead of just chronicling the events. I feel that this makes for a more enjoyable read. Fourth, occasionally I will simply make up occurrences and document them in this journal as if they were real. Fortunately for you, you will not have to guess which posts are real and which are not. I intend to "tag" all of the false entries as "absurd". The "absurd" entries will tend to read along the lines of the opening of this entry and I hope they will be fun and interesting. Fifth, I will try to end a large percentage of my posts with a question related to what was discussed in the post.
